Volunteers handing out medals at Inverness Half Marathon

The Inverness Half Marathon is the perfect way to stay motivated through the autumn and winter and achieve something special in spring.

This popular and friendly race follows a fast, scenic route through the Highland capital, offering fantastic PB potential. Starting along the banks of the River Ness, the course takes in some of Inverness’ most iconic landmarks before finishing to a truly memorable Highland welcome.

Event details:

  • Start Line: Bught Road, IV3 5SS

  • Baggage drop: Inverness Leisure, 09:30 to 10:45

The course

The Inverness Half starts beside the River Ness on Bught Road and follows a scenic route through the city centre, crossing Ness Bridge and passing views of Inverness Castle before heading south towards Torbreck and Lochardil.

After a steady climb in the early miles and some gently undulating sections through the middle of the route, the course returns toward the city and the River Ness for a predominantly flat final stretch.

The event finishes with a memorable lap of the track at Queen's Park Stadium, making it an attractive course that is popular with participants aiming for a PB.

There are four water stations (at 3, 6, 9, and 11.5 miles), plus water at the Finish, and a High5 gel station on route. As part of our sustainability commitment, all stations use recyclable paper cups.

Entry Includes

  • Finisher's technical t-shirt (optional)
  • Finisher's medal (optional)
  • Finisher's giveaway (optional)
